FOSTER HOMES ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED!"Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever." -Karen Devison
A foster home serves as a temporary sanctuary for dogs awaiting their forever families. By placing pets in foster care, we can help socialize them and prepare them for their future home environment. As a foster-based rescue, we rely on fosters to aid us in saving lives! We are seeking dedicated fosters who are willing to open their hearts and homes to our rescue dogs. Many of these dogs come from shelters and have not experienced the love, attention, and stability they truly deserve. They often require guidance with house manners, leash walking, and crate training, which enhances their adoptability and success in their new homes. Fostering is a deeply rewarding experience, allowing you to witness these dogs flourish and transform as they heal both emotionally and physically. Our Foster Communication Team is always available to answer any questions and provide support to ensure that your fostering journey is enjoyable. Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is required? All we request is that you complete the foster application, undergo a home check, and have a conversation about which dog would be the best fit for your household. Once the perfect dog is matched with you, we simply ask for essential care, such as leash walking, playtime, and affection. Additionally, you'll need to provide basic training (including commands like sit and stay, as well as housebreaking or crate training based on the circumstances), share behavior feedback, and send us pictures and videos. What if I have animals of my own? Having other cats and dogs can be incredibly beneficial, as many animals require proper socialization. We also offer a detailed step-by-step guide on how to achieve this effectively. Who pays for food & supplies? We supply everything from food, toys, a leash, a collar, flea/tick prevention, other preventives, a crate, transportation, and every foster gets a goodie bag filled with supplies and guides to help make the transition. What if it doesn't work out? It can occur if the foster arrangement doesn’t align with your lifestyle, or if unforeseen circumstances prevent you from continuing to foster. We kindly request that you inform us as soon as possible, allowing us the time to find a new foster caregiver. Who do I contact if I questions? We have a dedicated foster communications team ready to assist you with any inquiries. Your assigned foster communicator will reach out weekly to check on your progress and determine what supplies you might require. What if I want to keep my foster? If you completely fall in love with your foster dog, we will provide you with an adoption form to complete. As the foster caregiver, you will have the first opportunity to adopt if another person expresses interest in your foster dog. How long will I have my foster? The choice is yours! You can choose to foster on a short-term basis, committing to a week at a time or just on weekends. Alternatively, you may opt for long-term fostering based on your circumstances. If you're assisting with a critical needs case, your commitment might last until the dog is healthy enough for us to list for adoption. |
